For one of the twins' experiments, it was surprisingly ordinary looking. Well, aside from the fact that it was a dress that they were trying to shove him in.

"It's not just any dress, Johnny," Mary told him, thrusting the dress at him. "It's been specially designed to make anyone who wears it look their absolute best."

"And if it works on you we'll know we've gotten it right," Susan added.

"And then Gil will fall head-over-heels in love with us!" they chorused.

"Yeah yeah yeah," Johnny said, nabbing the dress and heading off for some privacy. "And as soon as I'm done with this...?"

"We'll upgrade your power poots," Susan finished for him, sighing.

"Really, Johnny, you're fifteen now. Haven't you outgrown that yet?" Mary asked.

"What are you talking about? They're awesome!" Johnny yanked on the dress, tugging it straight and smoothing at the skirt. It didn't seem like such a big deal to him, still pretty plain; it was all one color, though it was kind of cool the way that it changed from black to green once it was on him, and the only thing he found at all interesting about the cut was the way the skirt swished around his thighs as he walked. Swish swish swish, all the way out to show Mary and Susan. "Well?"

"They frowned at him, and Mary reached out to futz with his hair until he slapped her hand away. "Can you do that think you always do with your hair when you crossdress?" she asked him.

"Hey, I don't crossdress! I just... wear skirts...sometimes. When I need to!" he protested, but went ahead and ruffled his hands through his hair until it fell straight.

"That's what crossdressing is, Johnny," Susan told him, holding a finger to her chin with a slight frown. "Here, hold still for a second."

Before he even realized what they were planning Susan and Mary attacked his face with make-up, one smearing on lipgloss while the other brushed blush across his cheeks.

"Hey!" he yelled, scrambling backwards before they could do any more damage. "I agreed to wear the dress, not to let you put gunk on my face!"

They stood back to examine him, completely ignoring his complaints. "Better," Mary said, "but you still look like..."

"...Like out brother in a dress," Susan finished for her. "It may just be because we're too close to you for the full impact to effect us, but if it was working effectively that shouldn't matter."

"Eww, it's supposed to matter!"

Susan rolled her eyes at that. "Not what I meant, Johnny."

Finally Mary shooed him away. "Go upstairs for awhile. Clearly regular make-up isn't enough; we'll need to whip up something better."

"And with the perfect make-up to match the perfect dress our plan will go perfectly!" Susan chirped happily as she began pulling out chemicals.

They didn't even give him a chance to collect his regular clothes before he was shoved out of the lab, Mary just calling after him, "And maybe you could shave your legs while you're up there!" before shutting him out.

"Shave my legs? Yeah right!" He wandered out to the living room and flung himself down on the couch, figuring that he might as well just couch potato out until they came back to get him again.

While he was flipping through the channels looking for anything that wasn't completely boring his dad wandered into the room. "How does meatloaf sound for--" he started, only to stop dead in his tracks, his mouth still open to form his next word, when he actually got a look at Johnny. After a second he backed out of the room again. "I saw nothing!"

Johnny snorted and kept searching for something worth watching. "Geeze, I don't know what his problem is. Not like he's never seen me in a dress before."

He finally found a kung fu movie that seemed half-interesting and settled down, but before he'd gotten far he was interrupted again, this time by a tapping at the window. He looked up a there was Gil, his knuckles still pressed against the glass.

Johnny hopped up and pulled open the window, figuring a conversation with would probably be more fun than the movie anyway. "Hey Gil."

"Hey Johnny-bro!" Gil cheerfully returned his greeting, looking him up and down with a grin. "I was just passing by and noticed you've got a new look."

"Oh yeah," he said, tugging out the skirt and letting it flop back down again. "It's an older sister thing. Sometimes they're totally crazy, man."

"You've got older sisters?" Gil asked, but didn't seem all that interested in the answer. He grabbed Johnny's arm, tugging him forward until he could lean out the window. "It's a seriously good look for you."

"That's kinda the point," Johnny told him. "They'll be glad to know it works."

"But you've gotta get that gunk off your face." Gil reached up and rubbed at Johnny's cheek with the heel of his palm, frowning with concentration as he tried to rub the blush there off.

As Gil was working on that, Johnny heard a voice behind him. "Johnny, I've been thinking, and maybe I overreacted. If there's anything you feel like you need to talk about--" when the words were cut off again Johnny pulled free of the window and turned around to look at the door to the room. There was his dad again, staring at him open-jawed again, though this time his eyes darted back and forth between Johnny and Gil. Finally he managed, "Well, it looks like you've worked things out for yourself then! I'll just... leave you to it, and this time I'll remember that I saw nothing!"

Johnny turned back to Gil when his dad all but fled from the room. "Parents. Weird, right?"

"Totally." Gil glanced at Johnny's mouth, then wrapped a hand around the back of his neck to pull him even closer, until Johnny was leaning halfway out the window. "Hey, mind if I get the other gunk off?"

Johnny licked the corner of his mouth, tasting the strawberry lip gloss his sister had smeared on it. "Eh, go ahead," he said, letting Gil close the rest of the distance between them. That's definitely be more fun than the kung fu movie.

And, hey, he could always let the girls know the dress worked. He'd just need to leave out a couple details.
