Notes: For June Fic-a-Day
Requested by [livejournal.com profile] crystaldrake here (I... find it hard to believe that it wouldn't have been filled at some point last June, but since the request list hasn't been updated since then I don't actually have any idea)

She loved the feel of Katara's body, of soft skin and gentle curves that were usually kept hidden under her heavy Water Tribe clothing where people whose sight worked the regular way couldn't see them but which Toph glimpsed with every footstep between the moments when she could reach out and touch. She'd loved it since the first time she'd reached out and touched her with a caress that was more than just friendly, when she was eighteen and Katara was twenty and, feeling drunk on nothing more than sunshine and laughter and peace, leaning over to kiss her as the ground shivered beneath them to give her the clearest view possible of where Katara's lips were had seemed like the smartest idea in the world. It wasn't as if there was anything to hold her back; Aang had given up that mouth over three years before, as he'd grown more carefree than ever over the years without the war to focus him, Katara had become less and less content to take off for wherever the wind carried them at a moment's notice without there being any pressing need to keep moving, and distance had gradually filled the cracks where those two traits refused to meet.

She loved how different Katara's body was from her own. She'd grown to be so tall, or maybe it was just that Toph had stayed so short, that when they were standing Toph needed to raise a pillar of stone beneath herself if she wanted to kiss her comfortably. And she was soft, so soft, though the years of peace since the end of the war hadn't been nearly long enough to make Toph forget that under that softness she could fight as well as or better than every warrior they knew. When Toph slid her hand along Katara's side her curves flowed into one and other like the water she bent, the warm weight of her breast giving way to the dip of her waist then swelling out once more into the full curve of her hip. Katara would laugh brightly when Toph tried to seek out every curve she had with her fingers, wanting to learn her as well with her hands as her feet had through the vibrations in the earth, and she'd retrace those ticklish areas just to make her giggle again.

She loved how Katara seemed just as interested in the differences in her. In the way her body had piled on muscle after muscle as she'd gotten older, leaving little room for such soft curves. In how rough her hands and feet had become in the years since she'd left her pampered life in the prison that was her family home. Katara even seemed to like the way Toph's calluses would snag in her hair if she wasn't carefully enough while burying her hands in it; she laughed happily enough when it happened anyway.

And just as much as she loved coaxing giggles out of Katara, Katara loved seeking out every little sensitive spot on Toph's body which would make her gasp or scream.

Really, Toph thought from time to time, Aang hadn't even needed to win the war against the Fire Nation to secure his permanent spot in her high regards. Because there wasn't a day that went by that she wouldn't be happy to bow down and praise his name just for being dumb enough not to work harder to fix things with Katara when he had her. If he ever realized what a dumb mistake he'd made it was too late for him now; Toph would never give up Katara's heart now that she was the one lucky enough to receive it.
