person4My old faithful computer broke in the power-outage a week and a bit ago. It actually survived at first, when the power came back on for an hour and a bit on Thursday it worked fine, then the power went out again and although I had the sense to unplug it when everything started flickering wildly it was too late.
So today I got a new (used) one. it has a blue neon light on the side, a green light on the fan, and I'm thinking of painting it black. It also has a CD burner and a DVD-rom drive and everything else is a huge upgrade other then the amount of space, and that's only by 2.2 GB and the result of a slave drive I got for Christmas a few years back.
I actually have a gaming quality PC now! The old computer hang on like a regular trooper and would (incredibly slowly) play anything I put in it no matter how far off it was from what was supposedly the minimum system requirments, but it was also seven years old and would be considered to be on the bad end of the spectrum way back when it was new.
However, all my fics are lost, as is all my art and the game I was making. I think TMLT chapter two is cursed as this will be, for anyone keeping track, the fourth time I'm going to need to restart it after getting a fair hunk of it done. I've also lost all 190ish pages of last years nanowrimo novel which I've been meaning to finish off, the next chapters (and in some cases next several chapters, if it's a fic with few enough fans that I don't feel guilty about getting up a backlog before starting releasing parts again) of pretty much everything I've been writing, and some 3000 words worth of a Rita/Hermione fic I'd been working on when writers blocky on other fics. *sighs*
But the new on is really cool. I'm naming it Suzette. Because my computers always are given French girls names.
