god_tier, the Homestuck Big Bang. Unfortunately the library computer I'm on won't let me unzip folders, so I can't pull out the cover artwork to put up here. Oh well!
Song list is under the cut, but I don't recommend going through it until you've read the story. Spoilers abound!
Clockwork Little Happiness FST
1. Calendar Girl - Stars
I dreamed I was dying
As I so often do;

(The start of it all.)

Pray your gods who ask you for your blood
For they are strong and angry jealous ones
Or lay upon my altar now your love
(On the altar of a forgotten God Aradia gains incredible power, but it comes at an almost unbearable price.)
3. Gold - Terrance Zdunich and Darren Smith (Repo! The Genetic Opera)
Use your sense
Save your cents
The only thing with persistence is
Gold, it makes the world go round
(A song for Papa Zahhak. Though a much better father than Rotti Largo, if only because his son would bend over backwards to please him, they both value wealth above people and make for bad role models.)
4. Dreams Of Our Fathers - Dave Matthews Band
I don't want to wake up
Lost in the dreams of our fathers
Oh, it's such a shame child
To live and die for the dreams of our fathers
(Equius shapes his actions around his father's lessons, but it doesn't make for a very fulfilling life)
5. Children's Work - Dessa
You've learned how to hold your own
How to stack your stones
But the history's thick
Children aren't as simple as we'd like to think
(The only thing in his life that Equius holds onto purely for the sake of his own happiness is an unbreakable friendship with the black sheep of the family.)

Thank you for being a friend.
Travel down the road and back again.
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.
(Aradia might not have much left, but she does have a hell of a best friend. *snrk* Also, I put this FST together before the final round of the Homestuck Shipping Olympics was released; you can imagine my reaction when I got to a certain branch of the John♥Rose entry and went 'Ah, my jokey song call!' *g*)
6b. Suggestions - Orelia
And just like that my life is broken
I can barely breathe
And now I'm open for suggestions
(The life Aradia had always meant to have is over, and now she needs to find something else to do with herself. Weird numbering has no special meaning, I just added this song late and didn't want to renumber everything that comes after it.)

He said, it's not dying it's the people who are dying

I think the people are dying and nobody cares
(She sees the very worst her city has to offer in her work, but gradually falls wildly in love with it in spite of everything.)

...And then I'll let go
(For the many, many Aradia's who let themselves die to make sure one can go on fighting)

(Equius doesn't know how it happened, but even well before they meet he can't get her out of his mind...)

11. The Cat Came Back - unknown cover
But the cat came back the very next day
The cat came back, we thought he was a goner

He just couldn't stay away
(Why won't the annoying man in the cat hood stop bothering her 0_0)
12. The Ballad of Barry Allen - Jim's Big Ego
How long ago it was
Now I never can explain
By the clock that's on the tower
Or the one that's in my brain
(She lives her life out of synch with all the rest of the world, but never even realizes it until she meets him)
13. Amazed - Poe
You change the equation that I add up to
And all of the things that I thought I knew
You turn it around
(For the first time in his life (even if it's only when there's no one else around to see them) Equius is doing things without any mind to how they reflect on him, and has no idea how she effects him that way.)
14. In Your Eyes - Brown Derbies cover version
Love, I don't like to see so much pain
There's so much wasted, and this moment keeps slipping away
And I get so tired working so hard for our survival
And I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive
(His home provides her with a sanctuary she hadn't even realized she needed, a patch of the normality that had been almost completely missing from her life for years.)
15. Horseshoes - Moxy Früvous
Look straight at the coming disaster
Realize what you've lost
You keep handing out horseshoes
Horseshoes have gotta be tossed
(Equius unwittingly manages to fuck things up on a truly epic level just by trying to salvage a friendship for the first time. And now that chapter title makes sense!)
16. Journey's End OC Remix - GrayLightning, Pixietricks, and Sephfire
Take heart
I'm by your side
Though we're apart
I have not died
(Aradia realizes how she feels about Equius. Unfortunately she happens to be the wrong Aradia, and does so while in the process of dying on him. At least she could comfort him with the knowledge that she's still alive out there.)
17. Four-Color Love Story - The Metasciences
And you'll keep my identity a secret
And you will know the touch beneath my glove
And I may go out every night to risk my life for strangers
But you're the only girl I'll ever love
(The love song for every superhero/not-superhero couple. *g* Aradia finally tells him her full story.)
18. Lovers In a Dangerous Time - Barenaked Ladies cover version
Don't the hours grow shorter as the days go by
We never get to stop and open our eyes
One minute you're waiting for the sky to fall
The next you're dazzled by the beauty of it all
(It isn't until she's facing the worst battle in her time as a hero that she completely opens up to him... and that he realizes he can't just sit in the safety of his company pretending his strength doesn't exist while she's off killing herself for the sake of the city.)
19. Alternative to Love - Brendan Benson
Maybe I'm just damaged goods
And, baby, you're a babe in the woods
And me, I'm just a little lost lamb
But you love me wherever I am
And maybe I've been caught red handed
Making off like a lucky bandit
(An interlude for Spinneret and Breath. Aradia has no idea what's going on between them, but Spinneret's sure easier to deal with when he's at her side)
20. Sound Check (Gravity) - Gorillaz
Gravity, never let me down, gently.
Gravity, never go, no, no.
(The final fight begins. And for the first time in the story gravity works for Aradia instead of killing her with falling stuff.)

(Equius and the killer meet face to face.)
22. The Burning Season - Faith and the Muse
Everything is changing
Everything seems changed
As if quietly replaced
By something soulless
Burn It Down
(Gamzee's been going through some changes, and Aradia learns that she has even more power than she knew.)
23. Quiet Little Place - K's Choice
In this quiet little place
You run your fingers through my hair and whisper, "Hey."
And no matter how I try
Can't seem to think of anything better to say
(In the quiet afterwards.)
24. If You Were Here - Poe
It's okay
You can go now
(And, almost eight years after the fact, Aradia fully recognizes just how wrecked she was by her mother's death now that she's finally starting to move past it)
Bonus track: Clockwork Little Happiness - Yamaoka Akira (Silent Hill 3)
Mostly instrumental + a spoken word bit at the end that has nothing to do with anything.
(Although this is the song the story's named after I'm afraid you won't find new insight to it by listening, I just like the title. Don't start thinking the words are implying something sinister about whatever force brought Aradia back to life. *g*)
