Characters: Souji and Teddie
Notes: For June Fic-a-Day
The others had already gone back through the TV, a day's worth of the shadow-world's fog in their lungs making them crave a good night's rest before they explored the striptease further, but Teddie stopped Souji before he could follow after them.
"I have something to show you, Sensei!" he said, practically prancing to the center of the strange stage they were on. "It's supposed to be a surprise for everyone, but I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek so you could tell me what you think!"
Souji didn't think anything of it when Teddie reached up to start unzipping his head. It was more than a little creepy, but if you had a hollow, easily-opened body, why not hide things in it? It was one place that people definitely wouldn't look.
Then the head was off, and Souji stumbled backwards in horror from what was revealed within. Where the last time he'd seen Teddie with his head off there'd been nothing but empty space, now he was filled with a pile of blood and organs, just barely held together by scraps of skin that kept them from being a completely free-floating mess.
"Isn't it great, Sensei?" Teddie asked, as cheerfully as ever. He seemed to be completely oblivious to Souji's disgust. "I think I'm getting a spine next, and it's turning out really well so far!"
Souji's stomach churned, his lunch (and breakfast, and probably all his meals from the day beside as well) struggling to force their way back up his digestive tract--
--and then he was woken up by his head bumping into his work table, after he managed to roll all the way over to it from his futon in his sleep.
He sat up, frowning and rubbing his head as he waited for his stomach to settle back down. That was the last time he ate something in Dojima's fridge that had actually grown a layer of mold that needed to be sliced off.
...At least until after he'd stopped wondering how Teddie had grown his new body.
