person4Yes! Yes! I can't believe I finished that damned fic in time! I have been working on it since the fourteenth, and every single day I sat down whenever I had free time and said "Okay, I'm going to finish it today" only to reach evening and realize that I was going to need to skim over the prompts lists once more and find something I could tear off quickly before midnight. Which wasn't really a good feeling, since I know that it meant the quality suffered on some of those, or I just had to give a quick snip of a story I really would have rather had been longer.
...Actually, this fic had that problem too. I wanted it to go on a lot further, or at least add one scene into it earlier, but I finally hit the spot I had marked in my outline as the earliest possible place that I could wrap it up just after eleven, and if I could get it out in time for it to be counted as part of June fic-a-day I would since that's why I started it.
Of course, now I really need to go in and edit that monster, because I know there needs to be some incredibly mangled grammar. I kept catching my fingers making the weirdest mistakes as I forced myself to plow through getting it done (I'm going to partially blame the fact that I only slept three hours last night so I'd have more time to write). I hope that I caught all of the most nonsensical mistakes as I was making them, but I'm sure some slipped through. I desperately wanted to get it done with time left to do more in the way of editing than running a spellcheck, but I'm just plain too slow to edit almost 20k words in fifty minutes. Luckily, spelling and grammar edits are the only things I don't feel wrong about doing to a challenge fic after the fact!
But first I'm going to play a video game for a while, and finally give my brain a chance to unwind.
...I think my vocabulary is going to take awhile to recover from this fic. The final total count of uses of the word 'fuck' is 127 times, and, given the viewpoint character, I actually don't think it's high enough.
Also, after watching teenage girls of the world cooing all over Twilight's stalky love story I kind of felt tempted to add a big old This is not a romantic relationship, that is the point of the title note to it, but I thought that would be insulting to readers. I... I'm just really going to hope that when I post it elsewhere I don't get any 'Oh my god, that's so sweet!' style comments.
