Apr. 2nd, 2011 11:03 pmHa ha ha, oh geeze. The past couple of days I've been digging up some ancient notebooks and workbooks from when I was in high school, and in one of them I found an old English assignment where I wrote about the time my brother broke my hand (the assignment was something like writing about a vivid memory).
Reading it now I am seriously surprised she never tried to have a serious talk with me or send me to the guidance counselor or something thinking that my brothers were physically abusing me. Just reading it I can tell that I was in that mental place where you just kind of assume that because you know what you're talking about other people will too so you don't bother clarifying anything about it. And man did it make me talking about the way we used to treat each other when we were kids sound like the boys were regularly beating on me.
(To be clear now as I wasn't then, we were the type of siblings that roughhoused a lot when we were little but it was just play fighting, that was the only time it ever actually resulted in me being in pain, and that pain was caused by some majorly unfortunate timing where my hand was in front of the door just as someone who didn't know we were right on the other side slammed it open.)
