I thought I'd be bummed out for this one, since it's the first without my mom and all, but even though for the last week or so I've spent a lot of time thinking about my birthday with her last year (in a good way, it's a good memory!) so far I'm in a really good mood. I have planned my birthday dinner in honor of her (lemon cake that she loved for my birthday cake, stuffed grape leaves, one of her specialties, for the dinner) which might seem kind of creepy in a way, but it feels like a way of bringing her in even though she's gone in a way that's joyful instead of getting broody about it.
I'll be going out to do something with one of my brothers today and the other sometime next week; we'd planned to all go out together but things came up with his work and we had to rearrange things.
Right now I'm both very tired and very hungry, and I'm trying to decide whether cooking and eating while half-asleep or trying to take a nap while my stomach bites at me feels like it would be more trying. I really need to get some more snack food around here, or at least something like cereal that doesn't need to be cooked! (Wait! I just remembered that I have some smooth soup in the fridge, I can just microwave some in a mug real fast then drink it quickly. Problem solved.)
