I generally prefer lighter fic, fluff and comedy and happy things, but don't feel that you need to force your fic in that direction, especially if you matched on one of the fandoms that really don't work well for it (hi there, Rubyquest). I will ask that if you can please aim for an ending that is happy, or at least hopeful. An unrelenting angst parade down into unending misery without any light at all really is not my thing.

Pairings-wise, if a pairing I mentioned doesn't work for you I'd much rather you write gen than try to force it.

Genre-wise, I'm not generally a fan of major AUs or crossovers. By "major" AUs I mean things like high school or modern day AUs, where the characters are transposed into a hugely different setting. I'm fine with AUs exploring how the story's world and the character's places in it would be different if some events in the story were changed. I'd also really rather not get something that's pure porn, I don't read that much porny fic to begin with and would generally rather get plot or character introspection over a PWP, but I am fine with sex scenes that aren't the main focus (please ask through the mods if you feel like including any harder kinks, but the only thing I definitely DNW sex-wise off the top of my head would be a/b/o or any type of play with bodily wastes). I like futurefic as long as it's not purely focused on the characters being domestic with kids (I don't mind them having kids, I just get bored by futurefic that focuses totally on the characters' at-home family life instead of anything neat they're doing outside the home).

I like both plotty and character-centric stories (or character-centric plot!). I like missing scenes fic. Not a big fan of canon scenes from a different viewpoint unless you can do it in a way that really twists how the original scene is viewed. I'll admit that I love catching little references to canon sprinkled into a story, nods to previous episodes or quests or whatnot. No issue-fic, please, or trans headcanons.

Coco
Héctor Rivera
Miguel Rivera

I would really prefer a story set once Miguel is an adult, with either his life crossing into the land of the dead again when he’s an adult, or the two of them meeting up again after his death. Or something where Miguel’s starting his musical career and the shade of Héctor hovering over his life now that the rest of the world knows that he existed, people comparing their songs or speculating over which of the ones Ernesto stole he might cover and make a Rivera’s again. Or Héctor in the afterlife quizzing the newly dead about how Miguel’s career is going in the year between each day he gets to see for himself.

Coco is the story of a young boy with a great love of music who stumbles his way into the land of the dead while pursuing that love, and his adventures in trying to find his way back.

Okay, here’s a universal truth in all canons for me: if two characters meet for the first time and the canon proceeds to go “Look at how easily they click! How quickly an emotional bond forms! Surprise, it’s because they’re drawn to each other because of being related!” I will always ship them. When Miguel is quite a bit older and, okay, probably dead in this case, but still, if you want to go there I’ll be very happy about it! If you don’t, feel free to run with them in a gen way, but no Héctor/Imelda please.

Maybe something where Miguel’s an adult who’s moved off to the city to pursue his music career, and he won’t make an ofrenda with anyone elses’ photos because he doesn’t want the rest of his relatives to feel like they need to split their time away from all the rest of the family, but he’s the only one who knows Héctor so that’s different. Sneaking something small off the ofrenda on his neighbor’s balcony so he can hang out with him all night then get blessed back to the land of the living in the morning.

Or something where Miguel dies fairly young, contrasting their reactions to it? I imagine that out of everyone who’s ever live Miguel’s probably going to be pretty cool (in a non-depressive way) with dying: he’ll miss his family in the land of the living, but he knows that he can still have a fun afterlife full of music. Meanwhile Héctor would be horrified that Miguel also died young, not that way he wanted him to follow in his footsteps! And maybe a little selfishly worried about the fact that he just lost the only living person to care about him on a personal level, so relatively soon after his afterlife was stabilized.

Girl Genius
Agatha
Tarvek

Around the time the two kisses in the castle happened I realized that, while I'd been happy at the growing possibility that the OT3 would actually be the canonical ending, Tarvek/Agatha was the splinter within the possible threesome that I actually liked the most on its own. And is sadly the least popular option out of the three pairings it can be split into, lol.

I like how Tarvek can be so easily flirtatious with her (claiming his room in the seraglio! Which, okay, the giddiness of it is foreshadowing but still) while also being the one who's very alert to traces of her mother poking up their head, and how she'll let him nudge her plans around when she's in the madness place instead of either steamrolling right over his suggestions or dragging him straight into sparking out with her to the point of rational thought flying out the window.

An AU where he falls through the mirror with everyone else at the end of the Castle arc (and is quickly cured somehow) could be fun? Maybe Agatha transfers her Tweedle-connection to him instead of the sparkeater; transferring it to a relative of the person she's bound to would probably be easier than a totally different creature, and it would give Tarvek an extra level of protection if killing him would kill her and she's still needed alive for the Storm King plots. (Or maybe she just lets everyone think she connected herself to him, in the hopes they'd overlook her cute new "pet"?)

Or maybe something set in the future where they've reached a point where she wants to choose him, but also so very much does not want to deal with the conspirators going nuts over the Heterodyne marrying the potential Storm King. Do they just never actually get married? Even if he were to renounce his claim to the throne it probably wouldn't matter to the Conspiracy, if marrying her matters more to him might he do something as extreme as publicly killing himself so he couldn't legally inherit the throne when she brought him back?

Girl Genius is one of the two canons I requested which are totally available for free online if my prompts for the fandom we matched on aren't working for you and you want to try checking out something else. It starts out as the story of an ordinary girl who desperately wants to invent who soon discovers that her spark (in this setting that's the bit of the mind which makes mad scientists into mad scientists basically) has been artificially surpressed since she was little. Things very quickly go haywire from there, but Agatha grows beautifully into the chaos.

Liar! Uncover the Truth (Visual Novel)
Main Character
Katagiri Keima
Mamiya Haruichi

I requested the MC along with two of my favorite guys, even if they're both liars. Keima because his lover ending stands out as the only one where the guy works his ass off to fix his faults and become worthy of the MC's affections instead of just sorta hovering around pestering her until she decides they're too pathetic to not hear out, Haruichi because even if you don't purchase his complete route he's the only one who across all of his endings (except the bad end, which just feels out of character compared to the rest) is obviously really in love with the MC. Also, his lie is a pretty sexy one. I'd like shippy fic with one of the guys or the other, but you don't need to have the the other show up!

I also really enjoy how the game makes it clear that the MC is not the greatest prize herself, while she's pretty and fun she's also terrible at being an adult and too judgmental (with the two guys here it's very obvious in Haruichi's route, where she's constantly having unkind thoughts about poor Ayumi even though the poor kid's obviously super on her side). The only thing I ask when it comes to picking a name for her is that you go with one that's Japanese.

Liar! is a technically free (though it takes a while to get through without paying) mobile game best described as "Phoenix Wright, the dating game!" After breaking up with her long-time boyfriend the main character goes to a speed-dating event to try to get back in the game, where a psychic at the door warns her that she's going to connect with ten men and one of them is the perfect man for her, but the other nine are all low-down dirty liars. Each chapter is about investigating a few of the guys for whatever trait she's trying to ferret out that time. Obviously, as it is a dating game, I would really appreciate shippy fic! I got an awesome story for this last year, but love them so much that more would be great!

MC/Keima: After his chapter I really didn't expect his love ending to make like Keima again, out of all the guys he was in the top three of those I came out really disliking after learning their truth (and, as a side-note on disliked ones, please don't have liars number three or five show up!) but, like I said in my sign-up, I really appreciated that the dude worked his ass off for months to make things right and even then is only hoping that the MC would be willing to try being friends with him again rather than expecting romance. So something about her growing to trust him again would be lovely. Or maybe an AU where it was Keima instead of Shizuo who was her college romance, could having her there have stopped his bad habits before they began? Something where Yuri shows up could be fun, she can be so protective of the MC, but how does that mesh with Keima being another of their old friends?

MC/Haruichi: Haruichi was always one of my favorite guys, but after playing through his lover's route I ended up being so satisfied with that as an ending for the MC that I hardly cared about finishing the main game. I love how by the end they've reached a point where he's willing to leave his family for her, she's willing to at least consider joining it for him, and it's not treated like an easy decision on either of their parts. He goes a couple weeks without seeing her just so he can fully consider whether she or the family means more to him! Uncomfortable with the whole Yakuza thing though she is, she all but shoves him back at them when they're in trouble because she knows how terrible he'd feel if he wasn't there to help! A look at his thoughts while he was deciding what he really wanted could be nice. Or something with the two of them slowly navigating where they're going to end up post-game, now that they have time to consider it together instead of it just being all or nothing for one of them. If he does leave entirely it might be fun to explore what happens with his company; it was so important to him that he built this one thing on his own before being called on to take over the Mamiya family, will it still succeed on its own or will it turn out that his parents were secretly helping him out behind the scenes after all without his realizing, and how would either make him react? (Personally I prefer to think that he really did manage it alone, but the MC comforting him when he realizes he didn't could lead to some nice mushiness too).

Long Live the Queen
Elodie
Ignatius

In the past I’ve gotten one lovely gift for this pairing in Press Start, but I like it too much to pass up the chance for more whenever I see someone has nommed Ignatius. :-)

You know, the only reason I ever got this ending was because I wanted to get the achievement for getting him to divorce then figured I might as well go for the match, because otherwise I would never be willing to toss Julianna in jail and not release her. So I was honestly surprised when I got it and it turned out to be one of my very favorites. I really like how we know from WoG that the reason he abstains if there’s a vote of no confidence because he's grateful to her for his position but thinks that she's completely mad for treating his sister the way she did, and it takes you literally making her the very best Elodie she can be to make him see her as someone he could love, and even then she really has to work for it to make him consider marrying someone so young showing that she must genuinely want to be with him to bother. And, honestly, it just makes me happy for the poor guy to finally have someone who really wants him.

In Long Live the Queen you play Elodie, soon-to-be ruler of her country, in the year between her mother dying and her own coming of age so she can officially take the crown. In this time you have to choose what she does from week to week to guide her from being an ignorant kid whose private school failed her miserably to being a competent ruler, which you will almost certainly screw up miserably, probably ending in her death, at first!

Like I implied in the last line, something focused on what it means to Ignatius to have someone really truly want him first and foremost, after spending his whole life being seen as the lesser of two options to his father, then his wife, then (if he gets a divorce) to his his children, could be nice. How does he deal with Elodie's apparently laser-focused commitment on having him as her husband even when he tries to keep her at arms length, does he have trouble trusting she could be serious? And how does the nation react to her long courtship of him? I'm sure some members of the nobility, like Banion, would still spend that time trying to woo her, but even those who don't have a hat in that ring must get antsy over Elodie having no heir and showing no interest in turning her attentions towards someone who seems more willing to give her one.

Or something focused on Elodie, why she chose him, why she doesn't change her mind when placed in "romantic ceasefire". How it effects her friendship with Briony, or something funny with the two of them hanging out when Briony doesn't know and Elodie trying to hide it from her, or figure out how to tell her, or if she should be the one who does. Or something about Ignatius relearning how to be the one ruling after being given Ursul. Presumably he was taught to be the one in charge when he was young, before his sister was named the heir instead, but it's been a long time since then, are there any misteps along the way as he gets used to being the one in full control instead of just watching and maybe advising? Something contrasting the two of them, Elodie having to learn all about ruling basically from scratch while he needs to dust off those old memories?

Finally, I usually don’t outright prompt explicit fic but I’ve been thinking I would like to see how things go in bed between them. He has experience, but also is used to being with a woman who would rather be sleeping with her own brother. Elodie has none, but also has a game-play induced dogged focus on gitting gud at anything she decides she wants to learn (though also perhaps her own insecurities over whether he really wants to be there with her considering how long she needed to court him to reach that position?)

Men In Black
J
K

Man, I've shipped the two of them since the first movie and it just keeps going. While K's feelings might be more ambiguous, you can't convince me that J isn't totally in love with his partner.

I’d be absolutely thrilled with fic about them in the present day, but if it works for you I'd really like something with young K and J. What's it like to have a stranger show up who likes you so damned much (and you can take that platonically if you don't feel the ship)?

Does K think there must be something going on between his future self and J, and if so how does he feel about that? Maybe they never had any type of romantic or sexual relationship in the present but in the past J decides to buff up his seduction skills and put them to work on young K, because even if he'd rather be with his partner as he knows him if things go pear-shaped with Boris he knows this is the only chance he'll ever have again at having something more with K.

Maybe nothing ever happens with either of them, but the way J acted did make K think they were in a relationship in the future, he doesn't fight it when the time comes because of it, and J gets back to the absolutely baffling situation of finding himself in a relationship he has no memories of (but that he's very, very, cool with).

Or, more genly, something about K in the year's between when he first met J and the time J first meets him, looking forward to the partner he needs to wait decades to find. In the new timeline is he more like J was between MiB1 and 2 (though obviously less blatant/mindwipey and more K about it), discontented with all the other partners he has in the meantime because he knows it's not the person he really should be working with? Or you can just toss everything else I've just said out and give me good old mission fic, the mission being as big or as small as you'd like.

Rubyquest
Ruby
Red

Even though I like Tom it was Red/Ruby that I really walked away from this shipping, I was really drawn to the way they bounced off each other. Maybe something with them set during a previous cycle, if he finds her right after she woke up during a period when all the others are in the horrifically mutated portions of their lifecycles? Would he feel compelled to help her in that scenario where she’d otherwise be particularly fucked, or still try to keep up the cryptically wandering in and out of her life act (except maybe staying in it for longer and more frequent periods without acknowledging that in himself)?

Anything playing with her multiple lives while he tries his absolute damnedest not to go past his second would be fun, really! If you like the “five times” fic format they seem pretty made for it! Or something set in the period of building horror pre-canon, when things are still mostly normal but gradually begin shifting; one of the moments that really made me like the two of them together as a ship was the video of when she sliced his face open just because of the level of comfort he once had with her implied by how easily she was able to come right up and do that, so maybe playing with that as her sanity starts sliding?

Or an AU where she refuses to give her coins to him for whatever reason so he can’t finalize his plan and continues popping up to try to get them, right up until suddenly she’d successfully freed them all and, hey, apparently he doesn’t need to blow himself up after all?

Or if you’d like to handwave off his system being clear when he died and say that hand sitting around in Ruby’s inventory got exposed to enough of the Cure to grow a new him post-game maybe something about how strange it is for Ruby to be the one who knows more about what’s going on than he does. Would she be drawn to this new version of him that’s been wiped down to just his base personality, clean of the madness of the Glen, or would she find herself missing the man she’d known?

If you decide to write anything porny for this one I don't need the characters outright turned into humans, but DNW anything animalistic about the actual tab-a into slot-b portion of the act. In other words I'm fine with Red playing with Ruby's ears, or giving him a fluffy tail for her to stroke or whatever, but wouldn't want knotting or anything like that.

Rubyquest is available free online. It's an MSPA Adventures-style story shaped by audience suggestions about a bunny girl who wakes up in a small electronic casket with no memory of how she got there which quickly takes a survival horror turn.
