Jun. 18th, 2003 05:02 amI'm on a roll! From 4:44-4:59. Harry/Percy in forever linked with Yeats in my mind when it comes to titling. I wonder why?
Word: Baby
“I want a baby.”
Percy choked on his tea and doubled over, spluttering. Harry just watched him, eyes as calm as his voice had been when he’d spoke.
“What-- how-- why?” Percy stuttered around his cough, staring at Harry wild-eyed.
Harry shrugged, smiling. “I’ve always wanted a family,” he said simply. “I just thought, well, maybe it was time to start thinking about adopting. My parent’s were younger then we are when they had me, and...” He blushed suddenly, bending his head downwards and peering at Percy through his bangs. “And, I’m not planning on going anywhere anytime soon. Or... ever. I want to stay with you forever.”
Percy stared at Harry, startled. They’d always avoided talking about their future together. He knew that there was no one else he wanted to be with, had known that since he was nineteen, and he’d known (or at least hoped. It had always seemed too good to be true just being with him without making assumptions about the future) Harry felt the same way, but for most of their years together the war had been on and they couldn’t make promises for the future when there was no promise they’d both be alive at the end of the week. Then the war had ended, they’d both survived, and they’d just been too used to avoiding talk of the future to start it then.
He smiled broadly at Harry, reaching out to take the other man’s hand and bring it to his lips. “Then I think maybe it’s time to start planning on giving mum her first grandchild,” he murmured.
The dazzling smile he received could have stopped his heart.
