Got an invitation to Vox today, the new journaling site by the Six Apart/Livejournal people. I've heard a lot of conspiracy theories about how they're planning on making livejournal more and more like Myspace and drive everyone who's not a teenager to Vox once it's open. While I don't believe that, I was curious to see what it's like so I asked to be sent an invite code to check it out.
So far... don't really like it. It feels much less fandomy to me, which is the main reason I'm interested in journals. Like, although you can enter an interests list they don't become links when more than one person has the interest so you can find people into the same type of things that you are, and you can't search for users by interests either. Or by anything other than the person's name, username, or email address, so you pretty much either need to know that there's someone around you're interested in friending or keep refreshing the "Explore" page until you see someone interesting to find people you're interested in talking to. There aren't any communities either, which, again, makes finding people you're want to make friends with harder.
Just not a good atmosphere so far to me.
