Jesus fucking God, I'mma smack me UPS.

All day long I've been waiting for my grandparents' present to arrive, all chipper-happy because I've really been looking forward to seeing how it came out (it's a family photobook made with an online self-publishing place). Finally, about forty-five minutes ago, my dog starts barking up a storm because the UPS truck it here. I wait for him to knock on the door so I can sign for the package, but instead I hear him drive away after he's been out there doing whatever for a few minutes. I did hear what sounded like him opening up the back to grab the package.

'Oh, okay!' I thought. 'I didn't have to sign for it after all!' So I went outside to grab the box.

I'm sure you can guess where this is going.

I walk all around the house, no box. I walk up to the neighbors' front door to see if he left accidentally left it there and I somehow magically developed superhearing to be able to hear him moving around, no box. I go to the next closest building, a garage/barn that people down at the end of the road used to raise rabbits in, thinking maybe he mistook it for a really ugly little starter home, no box. I walk down to the end of the road in the rain to see if he ended up dropping it off at the mailbox, and, yeah, no box.

Meanwhile putting in the tracking number on the UPS site says that it was delivered to the front door, and calling them up hasn't gotten me anywhere yet though they said they'd contact the driver and call back with information about exactly where he left it.

I'm not actually as angry as the opening line probably makes me sound, just a little cranky and frustrated and already starting to feel like I might be coming down with a cold from all that wandering around in the rain. Any other time of the year I'd be pissed as hell, but I know that three days from Christmas the deliveryperson is probably run completely ragged and just had a brainfart and ended up taking the box back into the van without even noticing it or something, but I really hope this all gets settled soon.

ETA: It's here! And it's really nice quality, aside from the cover picture coming out really dark and some of the photos being blurry when I made their size too blown up. If you ever want to make a picture book I can now recommend Blurb.com, though it's a little pricey.
